ABOUT

Formed in 1974 in Toronto, legendary Canadian rock band Moxy has been known for their raw, high-energy sound and unforgettable live performances. The group was initially fronted by Buzz Shearman, Greg Godovitz, Gil Moore, Buddy Caine and Earl Johnson. With their self titled debut album in 1975, featuring hits such as “Fantasy”, “Moonrider”‘ and “Sail on Sail Away”  Moxy quickly established as one of Canada’s most exciting rock acts. Their hard-hitting style, which blended bluesy riffs with thunderous rhythms, made them favourites among the Canadian bar circuit and earned them a deal with Polydor Records.

With their no-nonsense rock approach and powerful live shows, they toured extensively across Canada and the U.S., sharing the stage with bands such as AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Boston, Triumph and others. Over the next few years, Moxy’s success continued with Moxy II (1976), which included titles “One More Heartbreak” and “Take It Or Leave It”. The band followed up with the heavy hitting album Ridin’ High (1977) and what would be their 4th and final studio album together with “Under the Lights” (1978). Tragedy struck in 1983 with the death of Buzz Shearman in a motorcycle accident. The band would later release a tribute album to their beloved vocalist in 1998.

Moxy’s legacy endures through the decades, the group reformed in the 2000s and kept the fans reminded of the Moxy aura with performances and releases including a live album showcasing their timeless rock energy.  Moxy continues to captivate fans old and new and still occasionally preforms their classics.
